Scotland 2022 Introduction

 Scotland - Here I Come Again!  June 2022.

The intended plan is to hike the John Muir Way which is in southern Scotland and more of a low level route, rather than the spectacular Highlands which are just what the name says - HIGH Lands.  

This round trip starts on the east coast in Dunbar the birthplace of John Muir and travels west to Helensburgh, take a 'rest' day, then turn around and return to Dunbar.  After that will be 5 days of being a tourist in Edinburgh.

Day 20 Hiking.  Wednesday, June 22. Return to Canal Land and Detour with NO Directions

Day 13 Hiking.  Wednesday, June 15. Kirkhouse, Strathblane to Coachman, Kilsyth.  13.5 Miles.  32,466 Steps.  7 Hours.   Another volcanic plug - Dunglass.   The Strathblane Hills behind me.   Jessie!  Why there is this 2.5 foot high cut out name here is a mystery?  But it reminded me of our Jessie who recently had a birthday.  Happy year ahead Jessie Freeberg! Laundry day again.  Slightly different colors than last week.  A sign nearby referred to this as a Cotton Mill.  Local man on a bike stopped and apologized for the closure of the John Muir Way for a 5 mile section for repairs, for a month.  There was a sign that told of the closure and an the alternative route should be taken.   But, there was no suggestion of what that other route might be.  Asked a few people and finally just followed the road to Kirkintilloch which had a narrow sidewalk the entire way.   When I came through here last week nothi...

Scotland Has Been Good and THE QUEEN!

Monday, June 27.  8.7. Miles. 20,917 Steps   Less movement in preparation for normal life.  No HAIRY coos in person this hike, but this is how they look with their winter coats - HAIRY! (From a poster).  Breakfast from Marks and Spencer.  RHUBARB yogurt, with raspberries and apple turnover.   Escalators run in slow motion, but once a person approaches they pick up speed.  Energy saving.   Preparing for home!
