COVID Tests

I shall also be taking 2 COVID tests kits with.  

To enter the United Kingdom a test is not needed, but on the return the to US there possibly will be.  

Decided it was easier to just haul the tests with me (they are light weight) rather than spending my last day searching Edinburg for one.

Monday, June 27.  8.7. Miles. 20,917 Steps   Less movement in preparation for normal life.  No HAIRY coos in person this hike, but this is how they look with their winter coats - HAIRY! Packs are Packed

The real backpack and carry-on backpack are packed and ready for an early morning flight tomorrow.   Because the trekking poles are taller than the backpack I stuffed the empty space with old towels to cushion their ride.  Towels will be discarded on arrival in Scotland.  The dark gray Osprey bag cover folds into its own pocket and will be left at the hotel in Dunbar until the walk is completed.   Purse/waist/Fanny pack and light weight IKEA pack with carry-on items, mainly the Altra boots, snacks, electronic cables, reading material, and 3 empty Smart Water bottles.  This pack also folds into its own pocket.   World travel opens the mind to the fact life doesn’t really exist only around our small towns across America.  Visiting Eastern Europe helped my mind better understand in 3-D the global map.  Exploring cities, meeting local citizens, and learning their life stories made the map suddenly like a pop-up book.

Return to Canal Land and Detour with NO Directions

Day 13 Hiking.  Wednesday, June 15. Kirkhouse, Strathblane to Coachman, Kilsyth.  13.5 Miles.  32,466 Steps.  7 Hours.   Another volcanic plug - Dunglass.   The Strathblane Hills behind me.   Jessie!  Why there is this 2.5 foot high cut out name here is a mystery?  But it reminded me of our Jessie who recently had a birthday.  Happy year ahead Jessie Freeberg! Laundry day again.  Slightly different colors than last week.  A sign nearby referred to this as a Cotton Mill.  Local man on a bike stopped and apologized for the closure of the John Muir Way for a 5 mile section for repairs, for a month.  There was a sign that told of the closure and an the alternative route should be taken.   But, there was no suggestion of what that other route might be.  Asked a few people and finally just followed the road to Kirkintilloch which had a narrow sidewalk the entire way.   When I came through here last week nothi...
