Knees and What Will be Traveling

Visited my doctor this morning.  X-ray of left knee showed bone close to rubbing on bone.

Not a good outcome, but at least there is a definite reason why that leg has begun complaining.  And no, it was not jealousy over the attention its twin was getting.  Received a cortisone injection into both knees.  Now those two need to stop their bickering.

The Stuff going to Scotland has been whittled down about as much as possible as each ounce/pound extra means it has to be carried on the back.

All the small stuff deemed necessary.  A change from previous hikes is that the pinkish and bluish bags at the top contain bar shampoo and conditioner to save weight, as is the green Dentitabs which are tiny bites of toothpaste.

Glasses and electrical cords and outlet adapters.  The iPhone will be used to photograph and write up the daily blogs.

Printed copies of accommodations with directions, printed pages from the John Muir Way book describing each section, and the JMW Map with the trail highlighted in yellow.

Bottoms:  Shorts, capris, leggings long

Osprey back cover for plane, evening shoes, orange bag contains rainfly for pack, green 65 liter Osprey backback, small waist bag/purse.

Socks:  greenish purple DarnTough mid weight to be worn over gray Injinji toe sock liners, 2 pair colorful Injinji toe socks mid weight, black for evening.

Outer Wear:  Marmot Rain pants and jacket, Marmot cap, Altra boots (they made the cut), Columbia light weight jacket, 2 headbands, Sealskin waterproof gloves, Smartwool fingerless gloves, Buff for neck and can be used for a hat if cold.

Silk scarf, hiking skirt, dress for sleeping or just being a dress.

Tops:  2 sleeveless, 1 short sleeve, 1 3/4 sleeve, 1 long sleeve

All the stuff is stuffed into labeled ziplock bags.  Learned with everything being the same color labeling is necessary and helps to keep it organized.  No CamelBak water bladder is going this time.  Will use SmartWater bottles that can be refilled, and carried on the front of the pack to help balance the weight, hopefully.

The carryon bag is a small IKEA backpack that folds into one of its pockets.  For the flight the hiking boots, printed papers and map, makeup, hand wipes, reading book, Sudoku, lots of snacks as almost 12 hours will be spent hanging out at O'hare waiting for the flight to London (the flights have been changed 4 times since the ticket was purchased, twice to my advantage and twice to the airlines advantage).  For travel a full set of clothing will be worn that will be discarded before the hike begins Thursday, June 1.
