Crossed Scotland One Way
Day 10 Hiking. Saturday June 11.

Salmon with poached eggs.

Fitba or football?

Loch Lomond wasn’t kind to this boat.

By the side of the path

Cows are now attempting John Muir Way.

A bit windy today.

Inventor of television?

Officially completed the John Muir Way One Way. Tomorrow is a rest day, and Monday the hike back to the east coast will begin.

Not very tasty pizza from a Gregg’s. Mostly bread.

Opened the desk in the room and found some Scottish treasures.

Just in case my boots need a sprucing up.

I think, the issue of how to make the bathtub drain, not drain, has been solved. Tomorrow will test my theory.

The sitting room at 20 Boutique B&B has tall ceilings.

Was served tea and this biscuit with whipped cream, strawberry, butter and jam. I made a total mess of the powered sugar. Felt like a little kid with crumbs and white dust everywhere. Obviously I don’t have the Scottish/British technique down for consuming tea.
Gowanlea Guest House, Bollach to 20 Boutique B&B, Helensburg.
10.5 Miles. 25,887 Steps. 4 Hours in pouring rain.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust

Lady across the room was eating this. It looked like two slabs of dry toast with 3 hotdogs/sausages sliced in half. Awkward for her to even bite into, and looked very tasteless. She made a good effort to pretend it was amazing 😉

At one point my Marmot cap flew off and I was able to chase it. As it was about to pick up speed and disappear into the distance the trekking pole was able to jab and hold it in place.

Since arriving here around 2ish, most of my time has been spent stretched out on the bed, under the duvet. Felt chilled. The legs felt tired. The knees a bit aches.
“You maybe a little cold some nights on mountain tops above timberline, but you will see the stars, and by and by you can sleep enough in your own town bed, or at least in your grave. Keep awake while you may in mountain mansions so rare.” John Muir
